 This morning a high wind blew this little branch of sugarberry and a sugar maple leaf onto my front step. The necklace I made repeats those colours in resin coated seeds, rain forest jasper and porcelain beads. Findings are sterling silver.Clasp is an S hook.  Length is 22 inches. I just got a couple of Russian navy shirts to wear in cooler weather. That was the inspiration for the dumortierate--the navy blue beads--clear quartz and explosion quartz necklace I just made today. Explosion quartz is clear quartz that has been heated so that it acquires the bubble pattern seen in the three central beads. Findings are sterling silver and length is approximately 22 inches.

This is an example of the work I do with salvaged china.One the things I love about my house is that whenever I dig in the garden, interesting bits of old china, buttons,rose-headed nails and glass pop up. after lying in the sweet West Virginian earth for a couple of centuries. I treat these fragments as the treasures that they are. Occasionally I make them into jewelry. This is my current project--a pendant made from two different pieces of china. I glued them together and added silver and a garnet cabochon.
